Pretending We Were Living in the 60's

We were pretending we were living in the 60's

In our psychedelic bell bottom blue jeans

We were high on life and dedicated volunteers

We were wasted in a friendly altercation

Taking bows in utter aggravation

Blazing away on a sticky Sunday afternoon

Well, I was busy whipping cheerily with a grapevine

When someone muttered something about the sunshine

And how life is a crime and someday we'd be millionaires

But money is a funny conversation

You'll have to buy a higher education

But from the looks of your school, I think you'd rather buy a magazine

You say you've got it all figured out

You say you know what life is about

And with just a little more time you'll get you hands around some happiness

But it don't make no difference to me

I don't need no sunglasses to see

That you live and you die and you cry all by yourself

We were pretending we were living in the 60's

In our psychedelic bell bottom blue jeans

We were high on life and dedicated volunteers

We were wasted in a friendly altercation

Taking bows in utter aggravation

Blazing away on a sticky Sunday afternoon

I ain't gonna take it anymore
